Expand are seeking a Lead Analyst or Project Leader to help support and drive a large, growing book of work aligned to front office Investment Banking and Capital Markets sector. The successful candidate will be expected to successfully contribute to revenue growth and innovation to their domain and ensure successful completion of projects with experience and flexibility.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for strategic decision support for our clients through Expand’s syndicated benchmarking and market research in the Investment Banking and Capital Markets industry. This role will include detailed discussions with our clients, strategic case work, building storylines, detailed data benchmarking, research and understanding. You will help guide their C-suite in making strategic conclusions using the insight you share. You will also play a significant role in Expand hosted community forums, facilitating peer-to-peer discussions and sharing industry best practice.     Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working on direct to client as well as strategic pieces with BCG clients
  • Leading client and internal meetings effectively
  • Ensuring that clients are satisfied and project timelines are met
  • Drawing actionable insights and stories out of data
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the programme’s membership remains high
    While oversight is provided by senior team members, Expand’s culture puts emphasis on personal ownership at every stage of an employee’s career. Furthermore, Lead Analysts/PLs play a central role in all aspects of the delivery lifecycle, from supporting sales through to initial data collection, analysis, visualisation and communication of the findings, allowing for a great deal of diversity on the job and the development of a broad skills set. You will have a high level of direct client exposure, which in many cases reaches C-level executives.

    There are often ad hoc requirements and change projects, and you will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of HR work. Job requirements

An ideal candidate will have:

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an analytical or quantitative subject
  • For Lead Analyst: 4+ years’ work experience, ideally in benchmarking, research, consulting, or within a front office role in a bank
  • For Project Leader: 5-7 years’ work experience, ideally in benchmarking, research, consulting, or within a front office role in a bank
  • Some sector experience in financial services, consultancy or market research preferred (understanding of investment banks and capital markets is an advantage)
    Technical

  • Advanced MS Office skills: especially Excel (including pivot tables and comfort with complex data sets) and PowerPoint
  • Ability to interrogate, interpret, evaluate and model data to extract insights and answer clients queries
  • Excellent analytical, rational thinking and problem solving ability
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of financial services terminology and concepts
    Non-Technical

  • Engaging presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to run client meetings, develop a deep understanding of client needs and handle difficult client situations effectively
  • Project management of high value products, including time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to handle data and information sensitively and confidentially
  • Ability to work accurately and simultaneously on multiple assignments, sometimes under pressure, leveraging resources accordingly and reporting progress to stakeholders
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Entrepreneurial, creative and collaborative mind-set, demonstrating ownership and initiative
