Market Data Specialist – London/hybrid
Job description
Expand are seeking a subject matter expert to take responsibility and accountability for oversight of a large book of work aligned to Expand’s rapidly growing Market Data Practice. The successful candidate will be expected to successfully bring revenue growth and innovation across Expand’s suite of market data products, including our benchmark and data catalogue.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for strategic decision support for our clients, specifically providing oversight, support and content expertise. A significant portion of the time spent in this role will include detailed discussions with our clients, guiding them in making strategic decisions using the insight you share. You will also play a leading role in hosting community forums, facilitating peer-to-peer discussions and sharing industry best practice. We are looking for a proactive, curious and diligent individual; an analytical and articulate problem solver who will play a key role in the Market Data Practice Area.
Responsibilities
- Deliver qualitative insights for benchmark reports, aiding clients in translating findings into concrete cost-saving initiatives
- Develop and drive our market data consultancy offering, providing clients with direct, on-the-ground support on cost reduction projects
- Host quarterly industry round tables in London and New York
- Oversee the delivery of our market data products, ensuring they are delivered in a timely fashion and are of high quality
- Drive improvements to our benchmark, taxonomy, and catalogue products, clearly articulating requirements to the analyst team
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and challenges in the market data space, delivering quality products to address them
Job requirements
An ideal candidate will have:
Technical
- Expertise in the Market Data industry, gained through work at a consultancy, consumer, or vendor
- Project management skills including resource and time management
- Ability to interrogate, interpret and analyse data to extract insights and answer client queries
- Experience delivering market data transformation / cost reduction programmes, preferably at a financial institution (bank, asset/wealth manager, pension fund)
Non-Technical
- Engaging presentation and storytelling skills, including the ability to run client meetings, develop a deep understanding of client needs and handle difficult client situations effectively
- Project management experience of high value products, including time management and prioritisation skills
- Ability to handle data and information sensitively and confidentially
- Capability to work accurately on multiple assignment simultaneously, sometimes under pressure, leveraging resources accordingly and reporting progress to stakeholders
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Entrepreneurial, creative and collaborative mindset, demonstrating ownership and initiative
- Experience in senior internal and external stakeholder management
Qualifications & experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative or analytical subject
- 5+ years’ work experience in Market Data, at a consultancy, consumer and/or vendor
Location
- Ability to commute to London on a hybrid basis preferred, however remote options available
