We could not be prouder of our colleague, Basem Abdelrahman, based in our Toronto office, who has been selected as one of the Chairs for the 2025 Youth 7 (Y7) Summit, the official youth engagement group of the G7. Hosted by Young Diplomats of Canada – Jeunes diplomates du Canada, the Y7 Summit brings together young leaders from around the world to shape policy recommendations presented directly to G7 leaders.
As one of the Chairs, Basem will help guide discussions on critical global issues, such as the economy and supply chain resilience, ensuring that youth perspectives are central to the decisions shaping our future.
Damian McCarthy, CEO of BCG Expand, reflected on Basem’s achievement, saying: “Basem embodies the qualities that define our team at Expand: initiative, adaptability, and a deep commitment to making a difference. His selection as one of the Chairs of the Y7 Summit is a testament to both his personal excellence and the strength of our broader community. We couldn’t be prouder.”
Basem expressed his enthusiasm for this opportunity, saying: “I’m incredibly grateful and excited to be serving as one of the Chairs for this year’s Y7 Summit. It means so much to be in a position where I can make sure youth voices aren’t just included, but lead the conversation on global challenges. This opportunity is both a huge responsibility and a real honour — and I’m looking forward to shaping meaningful, future-focused policy together with brilliant young leaders from around the world.”
All of us at Expand are excited to see Basem take the stage at the Y7 Summit — his perspective and insight will no doubt help shape important conversations. We wish him the very best and look forward to seeing the impact he makes.
