BCG Expand Roundtable - Jason Orloff

At BCG Expand’s annual Asset & Wealth Management Technology & Operations Roundtable in New York, hosted by Jason B. Orloff, participants discussed how firms are adapting their operating models to support the rapid growth in private assets.

Private-asset operations require highly specialized expertise, and unlike traditional products, existing operational models can’t simply be reallocated. Participants highlighted two main approaches firms are pursuing:

  1. Building new dedicated teams for private assets — though this risks duplication, higher costs, and capability gaps.
  2. Retraining existing staff to create hybrid teams spanning traditional and private assets — an approach that adds complexity and cost.

Across both approaches, AI is increasingly playing a role in streamlining operations, though solutions remain fragmented and scalable models are still emerging.

💬 How are firms rethinking operating models to keep pace with private-asset demand?
