💰 Global payments revenue is heading to $2.6 trillion by 2030. Getting there will look nothing like the past six years did.
Boston Consulting Group (BCG)’s 24th annual Global Payments Report, The Burden of Proof, shows growth cooling to 5% a year, down from 7% previously. Transaction-related revenue is the stronger driver, up 6% a year versus 5% for non-transaction revenue.
The regional picture is splitting sharply. The Middle East and Africa are growing at 8% annually and Latin America at 7%, while Europe and North America hold near 5%.
At the same time, many payments companies are trading 25% below their 10-year average valuation, a sign investors want proof of durable growth, not just scale.
